Practical answers, with a way to check them.
RemoteID.co.uk brings together short explanations and practical next steps for UK drone operators, builders and curious readers. It is a distinct publication from Layer400, with promotional links clearly labelled.
Independent of the regulator.
We are not the CAA and do not issue registrations, approvals or exemptions. The CAA and the applicable regulations remain the source for your legal requirements. We separate current requirements from future policy and point out cases our tools cannot decide.
How we check an answer.
We start with current CAA operational guidance, then check the applicable regulatory library and supporting publications. Manufacturer instructions are used for product-specific procedures, not as a substitute for UK rules. Consultation proposals and future policy are distinguished from requirements already in force.
If sources leave a case unclear, we explain the uncertainty and point to the CAA instead of issuing an unsupported exemption or aircraft approval. Practical checklists are our editorial suggestions. Corrections are checked against the linked primary source before publication.

Review, corrections and imagery.
Sources for this edition were reviewed on 26 October 2026. Review dates change when content is checked, not each time a page is built. This is an editorial resource, not a live regulatory feed.
For a possible error in our explanation, contact the team via Layer400 with the page and relevant source. Please do not send private RID characters. Registration queries belong with the CAA.
